Chu & Jack

La Jolla, CA

In Jun 2024, I had the pleasure of capturing a beautiful casual wedding at the groom’s parents’ house in sunny La Jolla. From start to finish, every moment was filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Setting the Scene

The wedding took place in the breathtaking gardens of the groom’s family home. Nestled by the ocean, this charming location served as the perfect backdrop for an intimate ceremony. The sun was shining bright, casting a warm glow over the entire event.

The Décor

Keeping with the casual yet elegant theme, the decorations were simple and stylish. Pastel-colored flowers adorned the garden, complementing the natural beauty of La Jolla’s coastal scenery. The setup was cozy and inviting, making everyone feel right at home.

First Look and Ceremony

One of the most touching moments was the first look between the bride and groom. Their joy was palpable, setting the tone for the entire day. The ceremony was heartfelt, with close family and friends gathering around to share the couple’s joy.

A Day Filled with Candid Moments

What I loved most about this wedding was the abundance of candid moments. From the bride and groom stealing glances at one another to guests laughing and sharing stories, every interaction was genuine and full of warmth. These moments truly tell the story of the day.

Celebration Time

After the ceremony, the celebration kicked into high gear. Guests enjoyed delicious food and drinks and danced under strings of twinkling lights as the sun set over the ocean. The casual atmosphere allowed everyone to relax and enjoy themselves, creating a night to remember.

Capturing Love and Laughter

It was an honor to be part of such a special day and capture the love and laughter that filled the air. Each photo tells a story, preserving these precious moments for the couple to cherish for a lifetime.

If you’re planning a wedding and considering a casual, intimate setting, I can’t recommend enough the charm of hosting it at home. It’s all about the love and the people who are there to celebrate it with you.

Thank you to the wonderful couple for letting me capture your special day!

By The Thursday Club January 17, 2025
Dreams were made on a sunny day at the historic Thursday Club on Santa Barbara Street, a neighborhood in Point Loma. Each element tells of romance and nostalgia in this charming Spanish-style venue, rich with vintage charm and breathtaking views, with its terracotta tiles, arched doorways, and classic wooden beams. Provides the perfect backdrop for every couple’s special day. As a wedding photographer, it’s imperative to let these details shine through in every shot while creating a narrative that compliments the couple’s love story. Britney and Brandon got ready in different rooms at Britney’s parents' house in Point Loma, then came over to the Thursday Club for the ceremony and reception. They had such a lovely celebration filled with so much love and admiration!

By Green Gables Wedding Estate January 14, 2025
Talia & Jose picked Green Gables Wedding Estate for their big day, and I had such a blast shooting their beautiful wedding estate! It’s an excellent choice when you are looking for a good-looking venue with everything in one place. It was a great day to have a ceremony outdoors with beautiful views! The landscape creates separation, making each section feel like a separate venue. The old school house was my favorite! The entire day ran smoothly with an incredible team of vendors who all worked together seamlessly.

Nestled in the charming locale of Carlsbad, the enchanting venue of Crossing Golf Course in Carlsbad played host to a magical wedding. As the morning sun kissed the horizon, I embarked on a journey to capture the joyous union of two souls, Tessa and Derek.
By Hotel La Valencia January 12, 2025
Overlooking miles of South California coastline and the Pacific Ocean, La Valencia Hotel has been a glamorous destination since it opened its doors in December 1926. This stunning landmark—The Pink Lady of La Jolla—exudes vintage elegance with its Mediterranean-style architecture, art, and dramatic coastal views. When I arrived at the hotel, I started the day getting some detailed shots of Yessica with her bridesmaids in the bridal suite with Satin Lace Robe, just next to the Veranda Ballroom, where the reception would be hosted. Then I went to the groom’s suite, which was super moody and the perfect size to start getting ready. After hanging with Josh for a few minutes, I headed over to the lobby, balcony, and outside to take a few architectural photos. Yessica & Josh’s Hotel La Valencia wedding was everything they dreamed it would be: heartfelt, timeless, and a total blast celebrating with family and friends! This day was full of smiles and happy tears. I loved Yessica’s V-neck mermaid dress. Josh looked dapper in his black tuxedo. Their oceanfront ceremony was set to impress with a light breeze during a golden sunset. When Yessica, escorted by her father, arrived at the ceremony in Hotel La Valencia, a live String quarter band played three violins and a cello. I’m so grateful to have photographed this amazing day for Yessica and Josh. I wish them joy moving forward in their lives together!
